The Weehawken
The building steps back in order not to visually crowd/pinch the entry to Christopher Street. The glass screen and façade materials change at the 4th level to carry the neighborhood's typical rooftop datum through to the waterfront. Steel construction allows for a lower floor-to-floor height than concrete, thus minimizing total building height while emphasizing horizontality in a low residential neighborhood.
